In an effort to broaden my portfolio and expertise, I welcome projects from all sectors and disciplines on a pay-what-you-can basis. As a new twitterer (tweeter?), Claire Diaz Ortiz’s fascinating book, Twitter for Good: Change the World One Tweet at a Time has done wonders to change my mind about the medium. Far from inane updates on celebrity whims and whines, I have really enjoyed exploring Twitter as a means to promote nonprofit organizations, social enterprise, and strengthen community. I am thrilled to be able to follow wonderful organizations such as:

Social Enterprise Workshop

Enterprising Nonprofits is bringing their “Building Social Enterprise Workshop” to Prince George on September 16th.

The workshop covers how developing a social enterprise for your nonprofit organization can improve self-sustainability and diversify revenue sources. In addition, attending the workshop qualifies your non-profit to apply for an enp technical assistance grant.

Venue: Community Futures Fraser Ft. George (1566 7th Avenue)

Cost: $45 per person

Time: 9:30-3:30 (please arrive between 9:00 and 9:25 am for registration)

Gaming Grant Review in Prince George

A public forum will be held on September 15 to discuss the distribution of gaming revenue in British Columbia. The review committee is seeking feedback on eligibility requirements, application processes, multi-year funding opportunities and the future of gaming grants.

Attend the forum September 15, 2011 at the Power of Friendship Hall at Prince George Native Friendship Centre 1600 3rd Ave., 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

This is a great opportunity to encourage the review committee to make changes that will help our deserving community organizations access funding and secure multi-year financial security.
